At UPEACE/US we are dedicated to helping potential students from North America connect with the information they need to make informed decisions about the United Nations mandated University for Peace (UPEACE). Other UPEACE regional programs in Africa, Asia, and Latin America provide similar resources and direction for students from these regions. We understand that applying to a graduate program in another country is sometimes additionally challenging so we are here to make the process and the transition easier. The United Nations mandated University for Peace is a world-class institution that brings together and trains future leaders from over 60 countries to study systemic approaches to address problems confronting the world. It is the only university in the United Nations system able to grant degrees in fields related to peace and conflict studies.

UPEACE enjoys a special relationship with the U.N. in that a number of professors from the United Nations community teach courses in the masters programs and a number of graduates go on to work in the the United Nations system (UNHCR, UNDP, UNIFEM, UNEP, etc). UPEACE is also the only university in the world that delivers a report to the United Nations General Assembly on its system-wide activites.

UPEACE is seeking highly motivated and hard working individuals from all over the world who are committed to social change to apply to one of our ten masters programs.  UPEACE is currently accepting applications for 2010-2011.  Click on the links below to obtain more information about the specific programs.

UPEACE invites applications from women and men who have the equivalent of a four-year undergraduate degree (BA, BS) or similar from an accredited college or university. Students admitted in the past have done their undergraduate work in a variety of disciplines, including the social and natural sciences, humanities and legal fields. Some have an MA in related areas and are seeking supplemental training in peace studies. Students admitted to any UPEACE MA program must exhibit an outstanding academic record and some degree of work experience in a field related to the masters program of interest is encouraged. Watch video testimonials of current and former students here.
