Our mission....
to promote and advance the United Nation-mandated University for Peace and the practice of education for peace in the U.S. and beyond.
UPEACE/US is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2006 by a diverse community of educators and practitioners committed to implementing practical solutions for building a more peaceful world.
This is achieved through the following program areas - (1) Innovative Conflict Prevention & Peace Education for Youth, (2) Professional & Civil Society Capacity Building for Peace, and (3) The Global Network for Upeacebuilders.
All UPEACE/US programming is a function of our mission and also of a more profound humanitarian conviction shared with our parent organization - the United Nations-mandated University for Peace. This is best articulated by Kofi Anan as follows;
To provide humanity with an institution of higher education for peace and with the aim of promoting among all human beings the spirit of understanding, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, to stimulate cooperation among peoples and to help lessen obstacles and threats to world peace and progress, in keeping with the nobel aspirations proclaimed in the Charter of the United Nations.
